This year the United Way of Southeast Louisiana has nominated Robert W. Merrick for the LOVING CUP AWARD; a man who has made many incredible gifts to his community over the years.
In 2013, Mr. Merrick became Louisiana’s first United Way Million Dollar Donor. His incredibly generous gift supported the critical work of the United Way and its partners and speaks to his commitment to the betterment of our community. Mr. Merrick has a long history with the United Way–as the owner of Latter & Blum Real Estate he has supported United Way workplace campaigns for many years. Mr. Merrick also serves as a mentor to other philanthropists in the community.
This year, Mr. Merrick became one of the first sponsors for United Way’s Club Connect Early Grade Reading Initiative. As one of his sponsored schools, Clancy-Maggiore School for the Arts along with Schneckenburger Elementary and Martin Behrman Academy of Creative Arts & Sciences, we have received year-round access to an online reading platform and a colorful Reading Oasis placed in our school.
Thank you, Mr. Merrick, for your acts of caring. Your generosity has impacted all of the students at Clancy-Maggiore Elementary School!
